Remembering Our Day Along The Hudson

Along the Hudson Event in Irvington, NY

On Sunday, May 31 we partnered with Houlihan Lawrence and the Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute to host Along the Hudson, a day of exploring Irvington and the nearby river towns. After taking the train up the Hudson, guests were greeted trackside with a curated map of the area to guide them on their way. Houlihan Lawrence offered tours of select homes nearby, including a 19th century Victorian cottage just off Main Street.

Throughout the day, we ran into our guests all over town. Some had walked up Main Street to the Farmer’s Market for fresh almond milk, berry jams and wood fired pizza. Others had hopped on a bike to ride along the Old Croton Aqueduct trail, blazing by historic stone structures or stopping at Sunnyside, Washington Irving’s home.

Around 3pm, just as the sky began to cloud up, we came together at the Eileen Fisher Learning Lab to share our experiences and stories from the day. As we sipped on Catskills based Wayside Cider and tasted local fare from Mint, Antoinette’s Patisserie, Red Barn Bakery, and Coffee Labs, we connected with a new community of people interested in what there is to discover just a short distance from the city. The day called for rain and by the time it came pouring down, we were warm and dry standing on the covered balcony gazing out towards the old mill buildings that lined the river. Thank you to everyone who came out to explore with us!

We stood excitedly by the train tracks waiting for our guests to arrive, ready to hand out our curated maps and additional river town guides. Thank you to Brrzaar for allowing us to gather behind your beautiful new shop.

Our event partner Houlihan Lawrence, offered home tours throughout the day. This was one of our favorites, the Airdrie Cottage, designed by Andrew Jackson Downing in 1843.

We were so lucky to have the Irvington Farmer’s Market start its season on the day of our event. Farmers from Westchester and upstate gathered to sell rich produce and goods. Many guests collected meats and veggies from the market for impromptu picnics by the river.

We were so excited to have Wayside Cider join us for the event. Based out of Delhi, a small town in the heart of the Catskills, Wayside blends hand-made processes with wild, heirloom, and dessert apples to create a truly unique and delicious cider. If you are based in NYC, head to Wassail to try this cider for yourself.

Antoinette’s Patisserie, based in Hastings-on-Hudson, is best known for their custom coffee Giaco Bean and amazing pastries. They recently began serving homemade gelato that our guests enjoyed by the scoopful. Their cafe in Hastings is a favorite of our Creative Director, Emma Tuccillo, who grew up close by.

The covered terrace at the Learning Lab served as a perfect gathering place to watch the storm develop over the Hudson. We sipped on Wayside Cider as lightning lit up the sky; it was magical to say the least.
